After two separate periods of service amounting to 14 years, Vicki resigned from her role as a Member of the Employment Relations Authority. Vicki holds a practising certificate as a Barrister and operates under Equilibrium Legal.
Vicki is a graduate of Massey University with a Diploma in Business Studies (endorsed Employment Relations) and Waikato University with a Bachelor of Laws. In 2022 Vicki was granted the distinction of Association of Workplace Investigators Certificate Holder from the Association of Workplace Investigators.
Vicki brings 30 years experience in employment relations having worked in the public and private sectors, across various industries, providing advocacy, advice, and representation in all facets of the employment relationship.
As a Member of the Employment Relations Authority Vicki:
- investigated employment disputes;
- issued more than 930 public determinations; and
- assisted parties to resolve their issues arising from collective bargaining through the use of facilitation.
In June 2024 Vicki was appointed to the Board of Cycling New Zealand and sits as a member on its Culture and Wellness Sub-Committee.
Workplace Investigator: With the skills developed through her work in the Authority, Vicki works with parties and witnesses to gather information and drafting comprehensive reports.
Mediator: Vicki has the skills necessary to assist parties in identifying, addressing, negotiating and resolving issues in dispute as a mediator. Mediation services are provided in a fully confidential process and allow the parties to reach practicable and innovative solutions beyond the limited range of those offered by litigation.
Arbitrator: Vicki will identify key issues, review relevant evidence, and write a concise and reasoned Arbitral Award for the parties.
Educator: Vicki has developed and delivered training courses in all facets of the employment relationship for employers and employees alike. She has delivered papers and presentations to numerous New Zealand conferences in the area of employment relations and was the guest lecturer to students enrolled in courses in the Schools of Management and Law at Waikato University for several years.
